Types of Color

Balayage is a coloring technique named for the French word for “painting.” With this technique, the color is applied by hand rather than using the traditional foiling or cap highlighting techniques. Balayage creates depth and dimension, and leaves you with a soft, natural, sun-kissed finish. Balayage technique can be used for both high and low lights.

Ombre' is a graduation of color. Hair tends to transition from darker colors near the scalp, to lighter colors at the ends. Ombre is ideal for clients looking for a low-maintenance style. This technique can provide more dramatic color and long lasting results.

Foil highlighting is the process of using foil to separate strands of hair which will be lightened from strands of hair which will remain its natural color. This process is also used in applying "lowlights" to the hair. When lowlighting, darker colors are used to create strands of hair that are darker than the natural color. Both high and low lights can be used to create dimension within your color.

Color New Growth
This service focuses on blending your new growth with your previously colored hair. After a thorough consultation, the color is applied and allowed to process for up to 45 minutes.

Color Balance
A color balance is also referred to as All Over Color. This service can be used to completely change your existing color, cover gray hair, or return you to a darker color after Highlighting, Balayage or Ombre..

Corrective Color
If you are unhappy with a previous color application, Corrective Color (or Color Cleanse) can be performed to remove the unwanted color. This is typically a two step process in which the unwanted color is removed, and then a more ideal color is applied.

Toner/Color Glossing
A Toner is an application of color, used to either neutralize unwanted tones (i.e., brassy or ashy) or to enrich, add warmth or add pigment to highlighted hair (go for those purple highlights!). Color glossing can be used to add shine to your existing hair color, without altering the color. Both these processes are temporary and will shampoo out, over time, without a line of demarcation from growth.

All of our color services require and include an in depth consultation to assess your current color, desired color and the health of your hair.
